When should I Book my Hair & Makeup Artist?
ASAP! Bridal hair and makeup artist's get booked up very quickly, often years in advance, so as soon as you’ve confirmed your date with your venue and registrar, it’s a great idea to book then, especially if there is a particular artist you have your eye on, you don't want to feel disappointed that they are already booked up on your date.
How do I check availability?
The most efficient way is contact us is by filling out the contact form and our Katie our Wed-ministrator will be in touch within 24 hours to let you know if the date is currently available. Please remember to include the date (and year), styling location, ceremony time and bridal party numbers / styling required.
You can also check availability on our availability checker, this is updated fortnightly, so may not always be accurate, so we always advise getting in touch directly.
Do you require a deposit?
To secure your wedding date we ask for a £150 booking fee. The booking fee secures the date in our diary and covers all admin costs regarding your wedding and is taken off the final balance.
The booking fee is non-refundable after a 14 day cooling off period.
Please note we are unable to secure your wedding date without this.
What areas do you travel to on the wedding day? Is travel included?
We cover East and West Sussex and the surrounding areas of Surrey and Kent.
Travel on the wedding day is included for the first 10 miles, after this travel is charged at 50p per mile.
If the journey to your venue is over a 45 minute drive, there is a £50 flat travel fee.
If you are unsure we can work out a travel quote for you.
For split venues, depending on the distance of the first prep venue
to the final venue there may be an additional charge of up to £25.
How Soon Can I Have My Trial?
Our recommendation is no earlier six to eight weeks before the date of the wedding.
As you will find, through your journey of wedding planning, that the process is constantly evolving, often this process leads to changing ideas and seasonal trends. Often find brides have a better idea of what they’d like closer to their special day as more and more details are finalised.
If the trial is carried out too early, brides often require a second trial closer to the time, which is an additional cost and dependant on our availability.
Will You Come To The Venue on The Wedding Day?
Yes!! We believe that all the running round on your wedding day should be left to everyone else - not to you!
This is your big day and it should start in a calm and relaxed manner. By having us come to you on your big day allows you
to stay in one place and avoid and rushing around.
No getting stuck in traffic on your journey to or from a salon or a sudden down pour after you've had your hair and makeup done.
I Have Lots of Bridesmaids, Will There be Enough Time to Get Everyone Ready?
Of Course! We always ensure that we arrive in good time on the morning of the wedding, to greet everyone and set up our equipment before we start the morning preparations.
We always provide a morning schedule to every wedding and allocate enough time for each person.
if you have a particularly large bridal party or have an early ceremony time, I can always organise an additional assistant (£100 extra) to help get everyone ready in good time.
What Happens if I Can't Get into the Venue Until Late Morning?
This will depend on the size of your bridal party and your ceremony time, but in most cases we will provide a "split" wedding prep. This is where we come to your hotel or home to provide the first stage of the morning preparations, then pack up and head over to the venue at our earliest convenience
What Happens at the Trial?
All trials are carried out at The Boutique. We will sit down and have an in-depth consultation, talking through all of your ideas and looks that you like. I always recommend creating a Pinterest board to store all of your ideas, so that you can have these to hand at the trial.
We will work with you to create the perfect wedding day look. At this point we will discuss and organise timings for the big day, including your bridal parties hair/makeup requirements.
At this time we will also take notes of all the products used and take pictures along the way as reference, this way you can guarantee you will receive the exact same look on your wedding day.
Can I Have My Trial on a Friday or Saturday Morning?
No. Due to high demand Friday and Saturday Mornings are reserved exclusively for wedding bookings only.
Trials can take place from 3pm on Saturday afternoons.
Saturday afternoons are highly desirable and do get booked up extremely quickly.
We have plenty of availability for Hair and Makeup trials mid week during our opening hours 10am - 5pm.
How Long will the Trial Take?
Please allow two -three hours for your hair and makeup trial, this is enough time to ensure you are completely happy and have found the right look for your big day.
Do You Travel Out For Wedding Trials?
No. We are primarily salon based, except for wedding mornings.
What Makeup Brands Do You Use?
Over the last 2 years we have moved over to cruelty free and vegan friendly products as much as possible. In our kit we use products from Zao, Tropics, Elf, Kryolan, Airbase Airbrush and many others.
How Long Will my Hair & Makeup Take?
On the wedding morning we allocate the bride 90 minutes for both hair and makeup.
Then 40 minutes per person per service, this sometimes varies according to the complexity of the chosen look.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me should you have any further questions about your wedding day, I’m more than happy to chat through your requirements with you and help you to plan the perfect look for your special day.
